changing G/L numbers

I'm having to update g/l #'s to work with InvestLink. I enter the g/l #, hit tab (wait for the info to display), then add two digits to the #, hit tab and the "Update Existing GL Account" box appears...it can take anywhere from one click on the No box to 2,3 or 4 clicks before it then displays the next box.
